Being 7 years old in swimming lessons and being very competitive but also hyper active... Naturally, I was always being told to concentrate.

If you were down to your last $20 what would you spend it on?
2 tins of Milo and 4 litres of milk... It would definitely keep me happy for a little while.

Lachlan Staples
Diving into the pool at a young age, Lachlan has been swimming competitively since the age of eleven. Whilst he won age national medals from the age of thirteen, it was not until he was seventeen that he tasted the sweet success of gold there. A particular career highlight for Lachlan was the 2008 Junior Commonwealth Games in India where he won 3 gold medals and was named Australian Swimmer of the meet. A natural in the water, Lachlan also won state and national lifesaving medals, and was captain of the under 15 NSW interstate team. Lachlan’s portfolio includes a number of notable achievements in the World School Games, Junior Commonwealth Games, Rome World Championships and Singapore World Games and The Nations Cup. Despite a broken arm and hand in 2010, Lachlan was quickly back in the pool to compete at the Australian Short Course Championships. Today, Lachlan is in Brisbane with his long term coach and training harder than ever in preparation for the 2012 London Olympic trials.
